Do we need previous paddling experience?
Tell us what the group has done before. Training is planned around the chosen craft, environment and the skills participants need to develop.
Can we do Bronze, Silver or Gold by canoe or kayak?
GoSport’s Expedition AAP programme supports all three levels by canoe or kayak. The programme is agreed with the group and its DofE leader.
Is a practice expedition included?
Silver and Gold require a practice expedition. The training and practice included in your GoSport programme are set out in the agreed plan and quotation. Discuss additional preparation for Bronze with the team.
Does GoSport provide equipment?
The GoSport kit list sets out the specialist and group expedition equipment supplied, including craft, paddles, buoyancy aids, waterproof storage, tents and shared cooking kit. The exact allocation is confirmed for your programme.
What do participants bring?
Personal paddling clothes and footwear, dry camp and sleep kit, food, eating kit, water bottles and personal essentials. Use the full kit list and your joining information.
How much does it cost?
We prepare a quotation for the group’s award level, numbers, training, expedition and equipment arrangements. Ask us to make any separate transport, campsite or other costs clear.
Can an individual join a programme?
Contact us with your level, experience and preferred dates to discuss current options. This website does not list confirmed open-expedition departures.
What happens if conditions change?
The final route, timings and arrangements are managed around the group and conditions. Your organiser and GoSport explain the agreed communication and contingency arrangements before departure.
Does GoSport register us for the full Award?
GoSport supports the Expedition section. Registration and the wider DofE Award remain with your DofE centre or Licensed Organisation.
